hello
I have a few suggestions for possible new places to investigate - perhaps you have some suggestions too?
The first is Elveden Hall, Elveden, Norfolk - a stone's throw from Thetford on the A11. This is a large empty mansion house, owned by Lord Iveagh, complete with country estate. I used to live in one of the gatehouses during the 1980s and so know the house well as i used to go past it every day to work.
It was the home to exhiled indian maharajah, Duleep Singh who Queen Victoria installed there and favoured somewhat. It is therefore, reminiscent of a palace inside - large ornate rooms with lots of marble.
The auctioneers came in the 1980s and sold off the furniture and it is now used for films (Eyes Wide Shut, The Living Daylights, Tomb Raider 1 etc). From memory, i'm sure that the auctioneers brochure detailed a ghost in one of the bedrooms.. but i'll retrieve this info if you like.
My second suggestion is Grantchester, Cambridgeshire.
Byron's Pools and the village of Grantchester are reputed to have ghostly goings on.
The ghost of Lord Byron is reputed to swim at the pools at night time (which is now part of a nature reserve with public access now) and the nearby village is reputed to have a ghost of poet Rupert Brooke, who lived there in the Old Vicarage (now home to Lord Archer). These two Grantchester sites are very close to eachother.
My third suggestion is Oliver Cromwell's House, Ely, Cambridgeshire which has been home to the Tourist Information Centre and Museum for a while now but it is reported that footsteps are regularly heard, along with a door shutting. A blue ghostly lady is also reported to have been seen.

I was forced to leave a Norwich Castle tour once. Not through fear per se but something spooky.
We joined the group dungeon tour and proceeded down the modern stairwell into the old basement dungeon. In the first room, the 'torture chamber', there was a spot where I could not stand.
I felt dizzy and short of breath. I tested it, stepping on and off the spot and, sure enough, the physical effects came and went.
After testing cautiously a number of times, I suddenly lost balance and almost fell.
The tour guide expressed concern, telling me that this happened to people from time-to-time and to leave the room for a bit if I needed to.
I left the room and took refuge back at the first landing of the stairwell.
As I turned, something ran out of the room and straight through a wall.
When I returned to the tour I did not feel strange any more and continued the tour.
I would like to know if CO2 build-up could have caused the dizziness and brief hallucination in the basement, although as I said, once something had run out, the effects were gone. Can someone investigate? I would like to return with lime water to test for CO2, take some digital photos and perhaps take a CO boiler safety card too just in case. Also to find out if the wall that should have blocked the path of the figure is modern or original.
I would be interested to know more about the Fleur De Lys investigation as I have slept there overnight several times and have picked up on something, although that may have been the sambuca

Hi riccyjeffs,
Sounds like you had quite a traumatic time at Norwich Castle.
I too, have been in the dungeon of the castle (about 20 years ago now) and it was quite an experience, moreso when they switched off the lights, plunging us all into absolute darkness. The kind of darkness where your senses are so deprived that it almost makes your eyes throb and you feel slightly off balance.
This feeling was repeated just the other week when myself, Stuart, Phil Whyman and others with Dead Haunted Nights visited the Galleries of Justice in Nottingham. They have a series of caves beneath the building where the same un-easiness occurred. It was also similar to the feelings whilst in the Catesby Tunnel - a 1.7mile tunnel under the Northamptonshire countryside.
I think you're right about the potential C02. Testing for this might be well worth it. Gases can make people hallucinate - there's reports of marsh gases affecting people in much the same way. As for Sambuca.. well, that can be a particularly potent memory erasing 'gas'.
Norwich Castle would be perfect to investigate and just in case we DO manage to arrange a night there, we'll be sure to let you know!

Hi Sarah, thanks for this. We've had quite a few invitations to investigate at Pluckley so far. I think there's quite a lot of interest in the place and therefore we'd probably like to do some research into the village first - particular areas of activity - before we plan to come down to investigate.

ALMOST HAUNTED have approached this location but unfortunately we have not been granted permission. The house is privately owned and therefore we'd suggest that others wishing to investigate in the area do not approach this venue.
